I’m excited to share something special with you.

As an official media partner of EUCIA’s private initiative, the European Circular Composites Alliance (ECCA), I’m honored to bring breakthrough European sustainability projects directly to our composites communities.

Today, I’m proud to present the first of these: REFRESH.

🔄 About REFRESH

Wind energy is one of Europe’s cleanest power sources — but wind turbine blades remain one of the industry’s most complex end‑of‑life challenges. While most of a turbine is already recyclable, blades made from durable composite materials require smarter, scalable solutions.

The EU‑funded REFRESH project is tackling this challenge head‑on. It spans the entire blade‑to‑new‑product value chain:

• Smart dismantling and cutting
• Shredding, sorting, and recycling innovations
• Mechanical, thermal, and microwave‑assisted recovery processes
• Conversion of non‑recyclable residues
• New products designed with secondary materials
• LCA, LCC, and a blockchain‑based traceability platform

REFRESH is not just a research project — it’s a blueprint for Europe’s transition to circular composite materials. And with these countries involved truly European:
