Fifteen years ago, I started a revolution in the shoe industry. Born into a shoe family and rooted in the shoe business since 1979, I founded SOLE RUNNER® in 2010—not as just another shoe manufacturer, but as a pioneer for natural foot freedom.
I wanted to create shoes that don’t deform the foot but support its natural movement. Shoes that adapt to the foot, not the other way around.
It all began in 2005 with my passion for natural walking. I quickly recognized the problems with traditional shoes: narrow toe boxes, elevated heels, and rigid soles force feet into unnatural positions. In 2006, I launched barfusslaufen.com, the first European online shop for barefoot shoes.
Back then, it wasn’t a gold rush. I knew all my customers personally. It was a small community, and the revenue was far from enough to make a living. But slowly, the sales of my online shop for barefoot shoes grew.
